Volunteers play an essential role in the development and vitality of cross-country skiing in Québec. These contributions enable thousands of enthusiasts to develop and live out their passion.
Every year, various partner organizations recognize these exceptional efforts through awards, demonstrating the undeniable impact of these volunteers within the local cross-country skiing community. Their commitment is invaluable, and we are deeply grateful to them!

Roles of volunteers
Volunteers are the heart and soul of cross-country ski clubs. They are the ones who manage club affairs and administrative tasks, organize events and even coach young skiers. Many ski areas are also volunteer-run ! There are many ways to get involved as a volunteer in the cross-country ski community.
List of the various tasks of the volunteers:
- Equipment management and maintenance
- Group supervision
- Support for events
- Welcome
- “Info-ski” and volunteer ski patrol
- Trail days (especially in Spring and Fall)

The professional skills you possess could be a valuable asset: legal expertise, management, marketing, human resources, IT, accounting, communications, business development, etc. Whether on the board of directors of Ski de fond Québec or one of Quebec’s many clubs, we encourage you to get involved to share your ideas and contribute to the development of cross-country skiing in our province.
Your strategic vision, professional network, dynamism and creativity are invaluable.
As a member of a board of directors, you will have to:
- Attend all board meetings, participate, support and keep up to date with the organization’s missions, services, policies and projects.
- Stay up to date : review the agenda and supporting documents before the meetings of the council or committee on which you sit.
- Take charge of specific tasks and work within committees.
- Recruit new board members or bring in collaborators who could make a significant contribution to the work of the board and the organization.
