Certifications for coaches and instructors

National Coaching Certification Program
(NCCP)
The National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) is offered in more than 65 sports across Canada. It aims to develop coaching skills for those working with beginners as well as high-performance athletes.
This program is delivered in partnership with the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC), Nordiq Canada, and Cross-Country Ski Québec for cross-country skiing.

Registration procedure for a NCCP course
If you do not have a coach number
- Create your profile on the Coaching Association of Canada Locker by clicking HERE and complete the required information.
- The CAC will immediately assign you an NCCP coach number.
If you already have your coach number
- Return to The Locker platform.
- Enter your NCCP coach number in the appropriate field.
- Access the CAC calendar (or online learning) and click “Register for this activity” for the course of your choice.
NCCP Training (Minimum Requirements)
Training for Assistant Coaches and Responsible Adults (minimum age: 14)
Step 1: Create an NCCP number (free)
Step 2: CCI Online: $52 (available in September 2026)
Step 3: Register for the Nordiq Canada coaching licence
Step 4: Understanding The Rule of Two
Step 5: Safety in Sport Training
Step 6: Online course : Ethical Decision-Making

Coaches who wish to further develop their knowledge can also take a number of complementary training courses offered through the NCCP. These courses help build additional skills to better support athletes and ensure a safe, healthy sport environment.
Recommended courses
Instructor training
Advanced level for those who wish to teach a variety of groups, including children and adult beginners. The program covers advanced techniques, teaching methods and safety.
Requirements
Instructor certification or equivalent experience, skills assessment.
Duration and format
3 days with workshops in real-life situations.
Iniski training
The Iniski certification is a one-day course: ½ day theory + ½ day on snow. This course is recommended for primary schools using the Iniski cross-country ski program. The Iniski cross-country kit is designed to meet competencies 1 and 3 of the MÉES. (1. Act in various contexts of physical activity & 3. Adopt a healthy and active lifestyle).
Ini-Ski Level I Training (Cross-Country Skiing)
Specially designed to support school staff in teaching basic techniques, handling equipment, and introducing students to the winter environment.
When: February 13, 2026
Duration : Full day

Cost: $75 + tax per participant
Ini-Ski Level II Training (Cross-Country Skiing)
Designed for participants who have completed Level I, this advanced training further develops teaching techniques and provides concrete tools for structuring more advanced sessions. Participants will strengthen their existing skills while exploring more complex pedagogical situations.
When: February 27, 2026
Duration: Full day
Where: Les Coureurs de Boisés (2830 rang St-Elzéar E, Laval)
