Certifications for officials

Create your NCCP number

  1. Create your profile on the Coaching Association of Canada Locker by clicking HERE and complete the required information.
  2. The CAC will immediately assign you an NCCP number.

If you already have your NCCP number

  1. Return to The Locker platform.
  2. Enter your NCCP number in the appropriate field.
  3. Access the CAC calendar (or online learning) and click “Register for this activity” for the course of your choice.

Level 1 Officials

The Level 1 training is offered on The Locker of the Coaching Association of Canada (coach.ca).

Access :

  1. Log in to The Locker with your NCCP number and password (do not create a new account if you already have one).
  2. Go to eLearningCross-Country Skiing (left column) → Officials – Level 1.
  3. Pay the $25 fee and start the course.

Duration: ~ 4 hours, self-paced.

Outcome: Level 1 certification, preparing you for support roles, administrative tasks, and selected technical functions at events.

Level 2 Officials

Ski de fond Québec organizes Level 2 Officials training each fall based on club needs (minimum of 8 participants).

Conditions: Must be affiliated as an official with your club.

Steps

  1. Pre-test (mandatory): must be completed before the training.
  2. Training: offered in the fall and organized based on club demand.
  3. Post-test (mandatory): must be completed after the training.
  4. Course Controller: This additional module complements the Level 2 Officials training. It prepares officials for the tasks required of course controllers during cross-country ski events.

Logistical details will be sent a few days before the training.

Level 3 Officials

Level 3 certification is for those who wish to officiate at cross-country ski competitions.

Availability: training sessions and certifications are offered annually in Canada and every two years in North America.

Support: Ski de fond Québec supports these development pathways through recurring budgets to ensure officials’ quality and competency.

Level 5 Official

Level 5 is the highest certification, intended for those aiming to officiate at international competitions.

Officials at this level have advanced expertise and can manage large-scale events with rigor and professionalism.

Availability: every two years.
